Bannu: Terrorist Attack on Ahmadzai Police Station Thwarted, Five Policemen Injured

A late-night terrorist assault on the Ahmadzai Police Station was successfully repelled after police personnel mounted an immediate and forceful response, officials said on Friday. Five policemen sustained minor injuries during the exchange of fire and were provided prompt medical treatment.

According to police, terrorists launched a sudden attack from all four directions, employing both light and heavy weapons in an attempt to overrun the police station. The assailants opened intense fire without warning, aiming to inflict maximum damage and push their way inside the premises. The police personnel on duty, however, retaliated swiftly, firmly holding their ground and preventing the attackers from breaching the building.

Upon receiving information about the assault, additional reinforcements from Domail Police Station and Town Police Station immediately rushed to the location. Security forces also arrived within minutes, after which a coordinated joint operation was launched to suppress the terrorists and secure the perimeter.

Officials said the terrorists suffered significant casualties during the encounter, though the exact number could not be independently verified. The joint force’s decisive counteroffensive compelled the attackers to retreat, leaving the attempted assault fully foiled.

Police praised the courage and timely action of the personnel who repelled the attack under heavy fire, noting that the swift arrival of reinforcements played a crucial role in preventing the situation from escalating.

A search operation was launched in the surrounding areas following the incident to trace the fleeing militants. Authorities said efforts are underway to identify the group behind the attack and determine whether it is linked to recent militant activities reported in the region.

Security in and around Bannu has been further tightened, and police vowed to continue operations against militants attempting to destabilise the district.
