Security forces killed two militants affiliated with a banned organization during a targeted operation in Bannu district, according to local sources.

The operation was carried out following intelligence about the presence of members of an armed group suspected of involvement in a recent assault incident in the Domel area. The case had drawn widespread public outrage after a video circulating on social media showed a young girl being brutally beaten with a stick.

Sources said the suspect seen striking the girl in the viral video had been identified by locals with the nickname “Gidar.” Authorities believe he was associated with the same militant network that security forces targeted during the operation.

Security personnel launched the action after tracking the suspected hideout in the outskirts of Bannu. An exchange of fire reportedly took place when the militants resisted the raid, resulting in the killing of two suspects. No casualties among security forces were reported.

Officials said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle militant infrastructure and pursue individuals involved in violent crimes against civilians in the region.

The Domel assault video had sparked strong condemnation across social media platforms, with calls for immediate action against those responsible for the abuse. Security agencies had subsequently initiated a manhunt for the suspects, leading to the latest operation.

Authorities indicated that further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the group’s activities and to identify any remaining accomplices connected to the assault case.
