Bannu Man Disowns Son Over Alleged Links With Banned TTP

In a rare and resolute stand against extremism, Muhammad Israr, a resident of the Gambati area of Bannu, has formally announced complete disassociation from his son after learning of his involvement with the proscribed militant organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to Muhammad Israr, his son had gone missing some time ago, causing deep concern within the family. The situation took a grave turn when the son later resurfaced and disclosed that he had joined the outlawed group. In response, Muhammad Israr made a clear, public, and unequivocal declaration that neither he nor any member of his family has any connection with, or sympathy for, illegal, violent, or anti-state activities.

“We strongly condemn this act without any ambiguity,” Muhammad Israr stated. “Our loyalty lies with the state of Pakistan and the rule of law. We have no association with extremism in any form.”

Demonstrating an extraordinary sense of civic responsibility, Muhammad Israr further announced that if his son were ever to return or come into his custody, he would immediately hand him over to law enforcement authorities, without hesitation or delay. He emphasized that the supremacy of the law and the safety of society take precedence over personal ties.

“This is not an easy decision for any parent,” he said, “but peace, stability, and the future of our country are more important than individual relationships when those relationships threaten public safety.”

The announcement has drawn widespread attention across the region. Local residents, community elders, and members of civil society have praised Muhammad Israr’s courageous stance, describing it as a strong moral example and a clear rejection of militancy. Many have termed the decision a powerful message against radicalization, highlighting the role families and communities can play in countering extremism.

Observers note that such public disassociation sends a critical signal: militant groups do not represent local communities, their values, or their traditions. Instead, it reinforces the collective commitment of citizens to peace, lawful conduct, and national unity.

Muhammad Israr’s declaration stands as a reminder that the fight against extremism is not only the responsibility of the state, but also of individuals and families who choose principle, law, and peace over fear and silence.
