In a powerful demonstration of unity and resolve, a high-level jirga convened at Khursheed Shaheed Hall in Bannu Cantonment brought together top civil and military leadership with religious scholars and tribal elders to chart a collective course for peace, development, and resolution of pressing public issues. The jirga was jointly presided over by Commissioner Bannu Division Muhammad Ali Shah, Brigadier Naveed Ahmed, and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Faheem. A large number of notables, community elders, and ulema from across the district participated in the gathering, reaffirming their commitment to peace and stability in the region.
The discussion focused on key issues affecting the people of Bannu, including deteriorating law and order, prolonged road blockages, and civic hardships. Tribal elders candidly voiced their concerns, while the administration assured them of immediate and result-oriented action. Both Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shah and Brigadier Naveed Ahmed emphasized that maintaining peace was a shared responsibility and pledged that no effort would be spared in resolving the people’s problems on a priority basis.
Expressing appreciation for the participation of Bannu’s elders, Brigadier Naveed Ahmed noted the historical patriotism and courage of the region’s people. “When the nation stood at the brink during times of heightened tension with India, the people of Bannu responded with unmatched zeal and national spirit. It was as if every man in Bannu had become a soldier of Pakistan, ready to defend the motherland,” he stated, drawing loud applause from the gathering.
Commissioner Muhammad Ali Shah, while addressing the jirga, acknowledged the vital role of community elders in conflict resolution and praised their unwavering support for initiatives aimed at restoring peace. “Together, with mutual trust and cooperation, we can overcome all challenges,” he remarked.
The jirga concluded with a strong consensus among all stakeholders to strengthen collaboration between the government and the people, eradicate impediments to peace, and advance the shared goal of a stable, secure, and prosperous Bannu.
