In an extraordinary display of courage, a woman in the tribal region of Baka Khel Wazir opened fire on two armed Khawarij, injuring both, as they stormed her home in an attempted extortion raid.
The attackers, reportedly affiliated with the Khawarij network, entered the residence seeking her husband, a local trader, who was not home at the time. Unaware of what awaited them inside, the assailants were met with armed resistance from the woman, who fired upon them, hitting both.
In the exchange of fire, another woman at her home sustained a gunshot wound, while the injured terrorists fled the scene, bleeding.
Local residents, joined by police, have since launched a manhunt across the area to apprehend the wounded attackers.
