A vehicle delivering rations to security forces was ambushed by khawarij belonging to a proscribed group declared as Fitna al-Khawarij by the state, in the Sparrah area of Mamund tehsil, Bajaur. Khawarij opened fire and later set the vehicle ablaze, leaving two civilians injured.
The targeted vehicle, a pickup owned by local resident Usman, was returning after supplying food to nearby security checkpoints when it came under fire. The driver, Usman, and another civilian, Rohullah, sustained injuries and were quickly shifted to a nearby healthcare facility for emergency treatment.
According to security sources, the assailants set the vehicle on fire after the shooting, completely destroying it. In response, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search operation to apprehend the khawarij involved.
