Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a strong statement on X, defending the country’s military leadership and accusing political rivals of amplifying Indian narratives for domestic gains.
In his post, Asif said that six months ago, under the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir along with the Air Force and Navy, Pakistan “gave India a thrashing with the grace of God”. He referenced former US President Donald Trump’s past remarks about India losing seven aircraft, saying Trump repeated the claim “61 times”, which “shook Modi’s soul”.
Asif said that if loving Pakistan, its soil, and being ready to sacrifice for the supremacy of faith is labelled “radical Islamist” or “Islamic conservative”, then such a label “is worn proudly on the foreheads of 250 million Pakistanis”.
The defence minister criticised political opponents as people “desperate for power”, claiming “the sewing machine is off, so they are distressed and taking refuge in Indian media”. He urged them to conduct their political battles within Pakistan rather than “sitting in the enemy’s lap and acting against the motherland”.
He added that if India ever imposed the same kind of conflict again, Pakistan would respond decisively. “If India wages that war on us again, then God willing, India will cry and they will cry as well,” Asif warned, referring to his political rivals.
