Armed Forces Mark Defence and Martyrs Day with Simplicity Amid Flood Crisis

Amid the ongoing flood crisis across Pakistan, the Armed Forces observed Defence and Martyrs Day on September 6 with simplicity, paying tribute to the nation’s heroes and their families.

Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, the Air Chief, Naval Chief, and senior military leadership collectively honored the sacrifices of the martyrs. The solemn observance reflected the country’s difficult circumstances as thousands remain affected by devastating floods.

Military leaders recalled that September 6, 1965, remains a symbol of the nation’s resilience and unity. On that day, Pakistani soldiers stood firm like a “wall of steel,” successfully repelling a much larger and better-equipped enemy. Their courage, they noted, left behind a timeless message: a united nation can never be defeated.

The Armed Forces also reaffirmed their role in supporting the people during crises, whether external aggression, terrorism, or natural disasters. With rescue and relief operations underway in flood-hit areas, officials pledged continued assistance to affected families.

They further emphasized that any attempt to disturb peace in the country would face a strong response, while the sacrifices of martyrs and their families will remain a source of national pride.
