On the 27th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs, extended heartfelt felicitations to the people of Pakistan, commemorating the day when the country emerged as a nuclear power on May 28, 1998.
Youm-e-Takbeer marks a defining moment in Pakistan’s history, when the nation asserted its sovereign right to self-defence and restored the strategic balance in South Asia. The historic nuclear tests conducted in 1998 not only demonstrated Pakistan’s resolve and unity but also reflected its unwavering pursuit of a peaceful yet dignified existence in the global order.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Armed Forces emphasized that Pakistan’s strategic capability is a sacred national trust, rooted in the aspirations of its people and safeguarded by the vision of its leadership, the brilliance of its scientists and engineers, and the sacrifices of countless individuals who contributed to making Pakistan’s defence unassailable.
“Youm-e-Takbeer is not just a celebration of technological achievement, it is a day to honour national unity, resilience, and our right to peace with dignity,” the statement read.
The Armed Forces reiterated their unflinching resolve to defend the motherland against any threat, across the full spectrum of conflict. They emphasized that Pakistan’s nuclear capability remains a credible minimum deterrent, designed solely for defensive purposes, ensuring peace and regional stability.
As the nation observes Youm-e-Takbeer, the Armed Forces called for renewed unity, vigilance, and commitment to the security, development, and prosperity of Pakistan. They reaffirmed their role as responsible custodians of the country’s strategic assets, dedicated to safeguarding national sovereignty and working towards a future defined by strength and self-reliance.
