Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warned that any form of conflict between Pakistan and India could escalate into a nuclear war, calling for global efforts to defuse tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
In an interview with a British television channel, Bilawal Bhutto said the Pakistani armed forces were fully prepared to respond decisively to any Indian aggression, emphasizing that the possibility of a nuclear confrontation must not be underestimated. “Any form of confrontation between Pakistan and India could lead to a nuclear war,” he said.
He stated that the international community was in contact with both sides and was making efforts to reduce tensions. He called for an impartial and transparent investigation into the Pulwama incident, stressing the need to prevent further escalation.
“Our air force, army, and navy are fully capable of responding to any Indian aggression,” the PPP Chairman said, noting that the country’s defence forces were united and ready.
Recalling past conflicts, Bilawal said, “Unfortunately, we have seen this before. Both countries have faced wars in the past. We hope such a situation does not arise again, especially since the international community is urging restraint and dialogue.”
He warned that even a limited skirmish could lead to a full-scale military confrontation. “Both countries possess nuclear weapons, and God forbid, this could spiral into a nuclear conflict. That is why every episode of tension between Pakistan and India becomes a matter of global concern,” he concluded.
