Anti Terror Court Orders Arrest of CM KP, Cabinet Members

Court, Sohail Afridi, Meena Khan Afridi

ISLAMABAD: The Counter Terrorism Department has registered a case under the Anti Terrorism Act against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Provincial Minister Meena Khan and Provincial Minister Dr Amjad, declaring all of them as absconders. An Islamabad anti terrorism court has issued arrest warrants for all three officials.

According to the FIR, the CTD has informed the court that the accused are avoiding arrest, and has requested legal action to ensure their detention. Officials say the warrants were sought after repeated attempts to contact the accused failed.

The written order issued by the Anti Terrorism Court states that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Meena Khan Afridi and Dr Amjad are deliberately avoiding lawful arrest. The court has directed authorities to ensure that arrest warrants are delivered to the residences of the accused while fulfilling all legal formalities.

Further proceedings are expected as law enforcement agencies begin efforts to execute the warrants.
