The so-called Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) has once again been caught pushing a false narrative, after Naeem Satakzai, whom the group portrayed as an “innocent, forcibly disappeared civilian”, was confirmed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a member of its terrorist network. Satakzai was killed in a successful security operation on July 1 in Mastung.
This latest exposure adds to a growing list of cases where individuals falsely claimed by the BYC to be “missing persons” were later revealed to be either active terrorists or involved in unrelated criminal incidents.
Among them was a person namely Abdul Wadood, who was declared missing by BYC, but later identified as a terrorist linked to the Majid Brigade, a BLA offshoot involved in suicide attacks and targeted killings.
Fahad Lehri, another individual BYC campaigned for, was killed not by state forces but by a close friend over a financial dispute, according to confirmed local police reports.
In yet another case, BYC-affiliated activists portrayed the families of alleged missing persons as destitute and suffering, only for videos and images to emerge showing a family member living in luxury, using expensive iPhones and enjoying a lifestyle at odds with their public claims.
Despite these repeated exposures, BYC continues to run online campaigns and organize sit-ins under the banner of human rights and enforced disappearances, often targeting state institutions and attempting to garner international sympathy.
Officials say such misinformation campaigns are part of a broader hybrid warfare strategy aimed at creating unrest and discrediting Pakistan’s security forces, especially in Balochistan.
“The case of Naeem Satakzai is yet another reminder of how propaganda groups exploit humanitarian narratives to shield militants and mislead the public,” a senior official stated. “The youth of Balochistan must be vigilant and question these narratives rather than blindly accepting them.”
As these stories unravel, the real question becomes ever more urgent: Will the people of Balochistan stand with facts and peace, or fall prey to a carefully crafted web of lies, designed to serve hostile agendas?
