At least eight soldiers embraced martyrdom, and eleven others sustained injuries in a highly coordinated terrorist attack on three military checkposts in the Gwargo area of Panjgur district. The assault was carried out by more than 80 armed militants travelling in 11 Zamyad vehicles. The attackers first destroyed communication infrastructure at the targeted locations, effectively isolating the posts. They then ambushed the quick response team en route for reinforcement, indicating a premeditated and tactically complex operation.
Despite the surprise assault, the troops put up strong resistance. Security officials said that at least eight attackers were killed in retaliatory fire. “The bodies of the slain assailants were taken away by their associates as they retreated from the scene upon the arrival of additional forces,” an official source said.
Following the attack, the injured personnel were shifted to a military medical facility, while security forces launched a search and clearance operation in the surrounding area to recover the missing soldiers and track down the perpetrators.
Authorities termed the incident a serious escalation in militant activity in the region. The sophisticated nature of the assault, including the initial disruption of communications and the ambush of reinforcements, suggested a high level of coordination.
