Alleged Khawarij Wanted in Multiple Cases Killed in Joint Security Operation in Hangu: RPO Kohat

A wanted alleged Khawarij Gulzar alias Gullo, was killed in an exchange of fire with law enforcement personnel during an intelligence-based joint operation conducted by the security forces, police, and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the mountainous border region of Hangu district, said Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat, Abbas Majeed Marwat,

According to the RPO, the joint team launched the operation following credible information regarding the presence of militants in the area. Upon being challenged, the suspect opened fire on the police, prompting retaliatory fire from the forces that resulted in his death on the spot.

The slain suspect, identified as Gulzar alias Gullo, was allegedly involved in multiple attacks on police and security personnel and had been wanted in at least seven criminal cases, the RPO stated.

Abbas Majeed Marwat added that cases against the deceased had been registered in various police stations and by the Counter-Terrorism Department under charges including terrorism, illegal possession of arms, and narcotics trafficking.

A 30-bore pistol and a quantity of crystal methamphetamine (ice) were recovered from the suspect’s possession during the post-operation search, the RPO confirmed.
