In a welcome development for cross-border trade, Pakistani authorities have extended the validity of Temporary Admission Documents (TAD) for freight vehicles transporting import and export goods via the Pak-Afghan Torkham border.
According to official sources, the relaxation will now remain in effect until July 1, allowing cargo vehicles to operate under the temporary documentation system without facing penalties or restrictions.
This decision has been warmly received by traders, transporters, and drivers, who hailed the move as a milestone in boosting bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Previously, authorities had warned that starting May 30, no driver would be allowed to cross the border without a valid passport and visa. The extension of TAD comes as a relief to many who were concerned about potential disruptions to commercial activities.
Business communities on both sides of the border hope this step will lead to more facilitative trade policies in the future and smoother operations at one of the region’s busiest land crossings.
