Afghan Soil Used for Terror Attacks on Pakistan, Says Former KP CM

Former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, has confirmed the existence of clear and documented evidence proving that Afghan territory is being used to conduct terrorist activities against Pakistan, particularly targeting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to an investigative report by senior journalist Ansar Abbasi, Editor Investigations at Jang and The News, Ali Amin Gandapur stated in an interview with The News that both the provincial and federal governments possess concrete and verifiable evidence demonstrating that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been operating from Afghan soil to carry out terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.

Gandapur, speaking in his capacity as former Chief Minister, asserted that these activities are conducted with the knowledge and, in many cases, the support of the Afghan authorities and the Afghan Taliban. He revealed that numerous terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa involved Afghan nationals and that several Afghan citizens have been arrested in connection with terrorism-related activities across the province.

The former Chief Minister emphasized that the evidence available is not speculative but documented, underscoring that Pakistan’s security institutions have repeatedly shared concerns regarding cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghanistan. These findings reinforce long-standing claims that Pakistan’s internal security challenges are being exacerbated by sanctuaries and operational networks across the border.

This confirmation comes amid an ongoing public debate within Pakistan regarding the need for transparency and evidence-based discourse on cross-border terrorism. Earlier, the incumbent Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Ali Amin Afridi, had stated that the state should present concrete evidence to support claims that Afghan soil is being used for terrorism against Pakistan. Gandapur’s remarks directly address this call by affirming that such evidence already exists at the highest levels of government.

Security analysts note that these revelations add weight to Pakistan’s position on regional security and highlight the urgent need for coordinated international engagement to address the threat of cross-border militancy. The issue remains a critical challenge for Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts and regional stability.

Pakistan has consistently maintained that while it seeks peaceful and constructive relations with Afghanistan, the use of Afghan territory for terrorism against Pakistan is unacceptable and poses a serious threat to national and regional security.
