The Afghan forces have been using an old tactic to facilitate the infiltration of Khawarij across the border. By targeting Pakistani security forces with sporadic gunfire, they divert attention, allowing the terrorists to cross over and carry out acts of terrorism within Pakistan.
According to sources, since August 29, Afghan forces have been continuously firing at various sectors along the Pak-Afghan border. The objective behind these provocations seems clear: to provide cover for the Khawarij to cross the border and continue their destructive activities. This comes amid significant pressure to bring wounded terrorists back into Afghanistan for treatment, following Pakistani security operations in Bajaur and Dera, which have left many militants injured.
The repeated firing by Afghan forces is a calculated attempt to distract Pakistani security personnel, thereby easing the movement of these terrorists. The areas of Dera, Bajaur, and Torkham have seen the heaviest exchange of fire.
However, the Pakistani military has also responded strongly to these provocations, giving Afghan forces a firm and decisive reply to their aggressive actions.
