Afghan-Canadian Social Media Personality Reportedly Detained by Taliban Intelligence

Taliban intelligence authorities have reportedly detained Nadima, an Afghan-Canadian social media personality known by the online alias “Batangara Kaki,” for the past month, sources confirmed.

Nadima, also referred to as “Batangra Kakai,” gained modest visibility through her occasional YouTube videos and posts on other platforms, where she often highlighted what she described as positive developments in Afghanistan under Taliban rule. She was reportedly affiliated with a foreign organization, though the nature of this affiliation remains unclear.

Her arrest was allegedly carried out by the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), but no official statement has been issued regarding the charges or circumstances of her detention. Nadima’s last public video, dated February 9, included a message appealing to the Taliban to “treat people with kindness.”

Human rights observers and advocacy groups have expressed concern over the lack of transparency surrounding her detention and the broader implications for freedom of expression under the Taliban regime
