The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has strongly condemned what it calls a wave of arbitrary arrests, abductions, and harassment of women by the Taliban in Kabul, calling the actions not only inhumane but a direct violation of Afghan cultural, religious, and social values.

In a sharply worded statement released Thursday, the AFF described the Taliban’s recent crackdown on women as a “shameful and unforgivable crime”, warning that the regime’s so-called “Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice” is now a legitimate target in the group’s armed resistance.

“These brutal and unlawful actions are an assault on the dignity, identity, and basic freedoms of Afghan women,” the statement read. “They reflect a calculated policy to crush women’s self-respect, social standing, and rights.”

Citing recent reports from Kabul, the AFF said Taliban fighters have detained, kidnapped, and intimidated women in various neighbourhoods, a pattern the group says is part of a wider campaign of repression, particularly targeting ethnic and linguistic minorities.

AFF warned that individuals involved in carrying out or ordering these abuses, including members of the Taliban’s morality police, will now be considered legitimate military targets by the group’s guerrilla fighters. “They will be held accountable,” the statement vowed.

In a public safety appeal, the AFF urged Afghan citizens to avoid Taliban vehicles, outposts, and personnel to protect themselves from potential retaliatory attacks. The group warned that the Taliban’s “Amr bil Ma’ruf” (vice and virtue) units would no longer be spared in the resistance’s escalating campaign.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice, the AFF reiterated its solidarity with the oppressed people of Afghanistan, especially its brave and dignified women, and called on the international community to break its silence.

“Remaining silent in the face of such crimes is tantamount to complicity,” the group declared.

As international criticism grows over the Taliban’s increasingly harsh policies, rights groups have continued to highlight the deteriorating conditions for Afghan women, who are now facing not only systemic exclusion from education and employment but also mounting threats to their personal safety.
