Admiral Naveed Ashraf Strengthens Pakistan-US Maritime Cooperation During Visit to United States: ISPR

Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, paid an official visit to the United States of America as part of Pakistan Navy’s continued efforts to further strengthen bilateral maritime cooperation, defence partnerships, and strategic engagements between Pakistan and the United States.

During the visit, Admiral Naveed Ashraf called on Vice Admiral Yvette Davids, US Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, and Vice Admiral Thomas G. Allan Jr., Acting Vice Commandant of the US Coast Guard. The meetings focused on matters of mutual professional interest, regional maritime security dynamics, and prospects for enhanced operational collaboration and professional training between the two navies.

The Naval Chief also visited the National Defence University (NDU) in Washington, where he met its President, Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin. At the US State Department, Admiral Naveed Ashraf held discussions with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Mr. Stanley L. Brown. These high-level engagements encompassed deliberations on politico-military cooperation, maritime security frameworks, capacity-building initiatives, and shared interests in maintaining peace and stability across the maritime domain.

During his visit, the Naval Chief addressed a gathering of US scholars, defence analysts, and think-tank experts. In his address, Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted Pakistan Navy’s pivotal role in promoting regional maritime stability, countering non-traditional security threats, and fostering collaborative efforts for safe and secure seas.

The visit of the Chief of the Naval Staff reflects the deep-rooted and enduring defence partnership between Pakistan and the United States, reaffirming their shared resolve to strengthen maritime cooperation and uphold collective security in the region and beyond.
