Prime Minister’s advisor and senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah has condemned the recent terrorist attack in Kalat, calling it a “tragic incident” and attributing it to Indian involvement. Speaking on a private TV channel, he alleged that India is backing anti-Pakistan militant agendas to cover its own regional setbacks by targeting innocent civilians.
Sanaullah stressed that terrorist safe havens across the border remain a major challenge to Pakistan’s internal security. “Until India stops supporting these elements, complete control over terrorism will remain elusive,” he stated. According to him, these militants are being financed and supported from Indian territory, allowing them to regroup and strike inside Pakistan.
When asked about the possibility of a military operation similar to the Swat offensive, Sanaullah acknowledged that while such operations are effective, they come with serious humanitarian hurdles. “A Swat-style security operation would trigger panic and mass displacement. Relocating entire populations isn’t simple,” he said, adding that the government is currently avoiding such a step to spare civilians further hardship.
He reiterated Pakistan’s stance that it has presented concrete evidence to the international community of India’s involvement in sponsoring proxy wars within Pakistan.
The security dilemma remains complex: dismantling cross-border terrorist sanctuaries is crucial, but large-scale operations risk triggering internal displacement crises, putting vulnerable communities at the centre of a dangerous balancing act.
