A recent explosion in a residential area of the merged districts has highlighted the ongoing presence of hidden dangers, despite years of sustained counterterrorism operations.
The incident took place in the Manato area, where two children were injured and immediately taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sadda. Doctors later confirmed that both are now in stable condition.
Security officials said the blast involved an explosive device left behind by fleeing militants, underlining the risks that remain even after successful operations to clear militant hideouts. They emphasised that swift and effective response by the security forces prevented further casualties.
Authorities noted that while large-scale clearance operations have restored relative calm, the militants’ practice of leaving behind explosive remnants—including landmines and booby traps—continues to pose a threat to civilians.
A similar incident in Bajaur earlier had claimed lives and injured several others. Officials said ongoing search and clearance operations have been crucial in neutralising such threats and protecting the local population.
Security forces continue to operate on multiple fronts, countering militant activity while ensuring that hidden explosive hazards are cleared, demonstrating vigilance and preparedness to safeguard civilians.
