US Secretary of State Contacts Pakistan Army Chief, Offers Cooperation to Ease Indo-Pak Tensions

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, offering American cooperation to help de-escalate tensions between Pakistan and India, according to a statement issued by the US State Department.

The US Secretary of State also extended Washington’s offer of constructive support to prevent future conflicts in the region, reiterating the United States’ commitment to regional peace and stability.

The development comes in the wake of recent hostilities in which India reportedly launched missile attacks targeting three airbases inside Pakistan. However, Pakistan’s air defence system successfully intercepted the attacks. In response, Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyān Mursūs,” destroying three Indian airbases along with multiple airfields.

The contact between the top US diplomat and Pakistan’s military leadership underscores the seriousness of the current situation and highlights growing international concern over potential escalation in South Asia.
