The Taliban-run High Commission for Addressing Migrants’ Issues reported that a total of 4,135 Afghan nationals were forcibly deported from Iran and Pakistan on Thursday, May 8.

According to the commission, 2,627 Afghans were expelled from Pakistan, while 1,508 were sent back from Iran. The returnees re-entered Afghanistan via the Torkham, Spin Boldak, Islam Qala, and Pul-e-Abrisham border crossings.

In a follow-up statement released on Friday, May 9, officials confirmed that 745 of the returnees had already been relocated from Kabul to their home provinces, including Ghazni, Logar, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Baghlan, Takhar, Balkh, Jowzjan, and Kunduz.

This mass return follows a similar episode just a day earlier on May 7, when 4,978 Afghan migrants were deported from both neighbouring countries — underscoring a growing wave of forced repatriations amid tightening border controls.
