In a major stride towards self-reliance in defence technology, Pakistan has successfully developed its first long-range ground surveillance radar, the AM3505, designed to monitor Indian military activities on land and in the air.
The state-of-the-art radar system, jointly developed by the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) and Blue Surge, is capable of tracking enemy targets at a range of up to 350 kilometres and identifying aircraft flying as high as 60,000 feet. Furthermore, it can distinguish between friendly and hostile artillery, tanks, aircraft and other military assets at distances up to 450 kilometres.
Equipped with advanced anti-jamming capabilities, the radar remains fully operational even in extreme weather conditions, including heavy fog, rain, and storms. Its rapid deployment feature allows it to become fully functional within just 30 minutes, consuming only 400 watts of power.
Highly mobile and easy to transport, the AM3505 represents a significant leap forward in Pakistan’s indigenous defence production. Officials described the system as a testament to the dedication and expertise of Pakistani scientists and engineers who have worked tirelessly to develop a cutting-edge solution tailored to the country’s strategic needs.
The development marks a critical milestone in strengthening Pakistan’s surveillance and early warning capabilities along its eastern border.
