A senior Russian military official was killed in a car bombing that occurred in the suburbs of the Russian capital on Friday. The explosion, which targeted a vehicle rigged with explosives, has prompted a full-scale investigation by security agencies.
According to the Emergency Committee, the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device planted inside the vehicle. Law enforcement authorities cordoned off the area immediately after the incident, while forensic experts and investigators arrived at the scene to collect evidence.
The deceased has been identified as Yaroslav Moskalik, 59, who was serving as Deputy Head of Operations Administration. Eyewitnesses reported that Moskalik was passing by a Volkswagen vehicle near his residence when the bomb, weighing approximately 300 grams, detonated.
The incident has occurred at a time when a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoy Veytkov was anticipated. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed hope for progress in efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine.
