A delegation of the United States Congress, led by Congressman Jack Bergman and comprising Congressman Thomas Suozzi and Congressman Jonathan Jackson, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), at the General Headquarters today.
The meeting focused on a broad spectrum of issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on regional security and defence cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement grounded in mutual respect, shared democratic values, and converging strategic interests.
The visiting lawmakers lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces for their critical role in the fight against terrorism and acknowledged Pakistan’s longstanding contributions to peace and stability in the region. They expressed deep appreciation for the resilience of the Pakistani nation and the strategic potential of its people.
The US delegation conveyed a strong commitment to expanding broad-based cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in the areas of security, trade, investment, and economic development, while underscoring their respect for Pakistan’s sovereignty.
General Syed Asim Munir thanked the delegation for their visit and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening and diversifying its enduring partnership with the United States in a manner that advances mutual interests.
On the occasion, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed to enhance training collaboration in the field of Information Technology.
