Bannu police eliminated two terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Lora Ghada, Garira Shahjahan, after receiving information about their presence in the area.
Police teams moved into the area and encountered the terrorists, triggering an exchange of fire that lasted around 25 minutes. Two terrorists were eliminated in the gun battle.
Personnel from Rural-II, Mandan, City and Saddar police stations, along with the Quick Response Force (QRF) squad and armored personnel carriers, took part in the operation.
Police recovered the bodies and shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital. A Kalashnikov, a pistol and a wireless communication set were also recovered from the eliminated terrorists.
After the exchange, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate any remaining terrorists or accomplices.
The identities of the two terrorists and details of their criminal and terrorism-related records are being investigated.
Bannu police said intelligence-led operations against terrorists would continue to protect civilians and maintain security across the district.
