Security forces conducted a major intelligence-based operation (IBO) in and around Mir Ali, North Waziristan, on 24 February 2026, following receipt of highly credible and sensitive intelligence regarding the presence and movement of Khawarij elements affiliated with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Acting with precision and resolve, security forces launched a coordinated operation aimed at neutralizing the threat and dismantling Khawarij infrastructure in the area. During the clearance operation, troops encountered heavy resistance from entrenched Khawarij, resulting in intense exchanges of fire.
According to initial operational reports, at least 20 TTP Khawarij were effectively neutralized during the engagement. The scale and intensity of the confrontation were underscored by the Khawarij’s use of heavy weapons, reflecting both their preparedness and the significance of the target area. Despite the challenging terrain and determined resistance, security forces maintained tactical superiority throughout the operation.
The operation remains ongoing as security forces continue comprehensive clearance and sanitization efforts to eliminate any remaining Khawarij elements and secure the surrounding areas. The operation is being conducted with the highest degree of professionalism, ensuring maximum operational effectiveness while taking all possible measures to safeguard civilian lives and property.
This decisive action reaffirms the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate terrorism and extremism in all their forms. The armed forces remain steadfast in their mission to ensure enduring peace, stability, and security in North Waziristan and across the country.
