Pakistan has reaffirmed its iron resolve to continue the fight against terrorism in all its forms, as the nation marked the anniversary of the terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar.
In a statement issued on the occasion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid tribute to the innocent children and teachers who lost their lives, describing their sacrifice as a lasting symbol of the nation’s unbreakable determination to defeat terrorism. The APS massacre was termed one of the most heinous and inhuman acts in modern history.
The statement said the memory of the APS martyrs underscores a bitter reality, that the complete eradication of terrorism remains an urgent and unavoidable necessity. Pakistan is among the countries worst affected by this scourge, having lost more than 90,000 precious lives and suffered massive economic and social losses, a testament to its frontline role in the global fight against terrorism.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies continue to take effective and decisive action against terrorist organisations. However, the country continues to face persistent threats from terrorist elements operating across the border, with the backing of hostile actors. Pakistan, the statement noted, has repeatedly highlighted this challenge and taken robust measures to curb the spread of terrorism.
It added that Pakistan has also acted as a strong bulwark against the spillover of terrorism beyond its borders, contributing to peace and stability across the region and beyond.
The Foreign Office stressed that concrete international action is essential to dismantle terrorist safe havens and cut off all forms of support to such groups. Recalling the APS martyrs, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its people, defending its sovereignty, and pursuing peace with unwavering resolve.
