Police late on Thursday night foiled a terrorist attack on the Sheikh Landak checkpost within the jurisdiction of Howeid Police Station, forcing the terrorists to retreat after a fierce exchange of fire. According to officials, terrorists launched a cowardly assault on the checkpost, but police personnel displayed exceptional courage, swift response, and remarkable professionalism, successfully neutralising the attack. Initial reports suggest that the terrorists suffered significant human and material losses, with multiple terrorists killed and several others injured in the exchange of fire.
During the retaliatory operation, five brave police personnel sustained minor injuries. They were immediately shifted to a hospital where they are receiving the best possible medical care.
Following special instructions from DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan, DPO Bannu Yasir Afridi rushed to the site along with additional police contingents. The area was cordoned off and a large-scale search operation was launched to track down any fleeing terrorists.
DIG Bannu and DPO Bannu lauded the gallantry and timely action of the police force, praising their dedication to duty. They said that Bannu Police stands fully prepared to safeguard the motherland and will not rest until the menace of terrorism is completely eradicated.
