China has positioned itself as a calm but firm voice of restraint amid rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both neighbouring countries to reduce friction and recommit to peaceful negotiations. The statement came during a routine press conference in Beijing, where Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun addressed growing regional concerns.
Guo underscored that Pakistan and Afghanistan are “traditional friends of China,” and expressed Beijing’s hope that both nations will continue to manage disputes through dialogue rather than confrontation. He noted that China attaches significant importance to peace along its western periphery and views stable Pakistan–Afghanistan relations as essential for broader regional security.
