Security forces successfully eliminated two terrorists affiliated with the Commander Darwesh Group during a precise artillery operation in the Torghar area of Kurram district. The action marks a significant counterterrorism achievement as Pakistan intensifies its efforts to dismantle TTP-linked cells operating along the western frontier.
According to security sources, the terrorists were part of a network tied to the Commander Darwesh Group a faction known for cross-border facilitation, recruitment, and planning attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilian communities in Kurram and the adjoining border regions. Intelligence reports indicated that the terrorists had recently shifted to the Torghar area, attempting to use the rugged high-altitude terrain as cover for operational movement.
Acting on credible intelligence, security forces tracked the militants and engaged them with accurate artillery fire, eliminating both on the spot. The swift and decisive operation thwarted an anticipated attempt by the group to target local security posts and destabilize the sensitive district.
The Commander Darwesh Group, operating under the broader umbrella of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has long been involved in targeted killings, attacks on convoys, and aiding cross-border terror infiltration from Afghan soil. The latest development is viewed as a targeted effort to break their operational chain and restrict their ability to regroup along the frontier.
Security officials emphasized that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign will continue with full force until all TTP-linked networks and facilitators are neutralized. The elimination of the two terrorists is being regarded as part of a broader intelligence-driven strategy aimed at preventing militant consolidation and ensuring long-term stability across Kurram and other vulnerable border districts.
Authorities reaffirmed their resolve that any attempt by terrorist elements to infiltrate, regroup, or destabilize the region will be met with immediate and decisive action.
