The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in a successful joint anti-terror operation with the Elite Force and local police, arrested an Afghan suicide bomber along with his handler in Bajaur, preventing a major terrorist attack.
According to details, CTD SWAT teams, Elite Force personnel, and Bajaur Police were present in the area for a search and strike operation when intelligence indicated the presence of two suspicious individuals in a nearby dry stream. Acting swiftly, the security team cordoned off the location. The suspects attempted to flee upon seeing the police party, but both were apprehended after a well-coordinated pursuit.
Initial investigation revealed that the arrested Afghan national, Qais son of Shah Khan, a resident of Olaswali Charbolak, Balkh Province, had entered Pakistan with the intention of carrying out a suicide attack. His handler and facilitator was identified as Rafiullah son of Noor Muhammad, a resident of Inam Khoro Chingi.
The operation led to the recovery of three hand grenades from the terrorists, while the suicide bomber was found carrying an improvised explosive device wrapped in a blue bag, along with a detonating fuse and explosive material.
Security agencies have launched further investigation into the network behind the plot.
