Security forces thwarted a major terrorist plot and averted a potential large-scale attack during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan on October 24, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Khwarij, who were preparing a vehicle-borne suicide attack, the security forces launched a precise operation in the Jhallar area of North Waziristan District. During the engagement, troops effectively targeted the terrorist hideout, destroyed the vehicle being readied for the attack, and eliminated three Indian-sponsored militants.
A sanitization operation is underway in the area to clear any remaining threats. The ISPR stated that the operation is part of the ongoing, full-scale counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
The statement reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain resolute in their mission to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country. It added that the sacrifices of the nation’s brave soldiers continue to reinforce the resolve to ensure lasting peace and stability.
