Pakistan Army’s Distinguished Role in UN Peacekeeping Honored on International Day of Peace

As the world marks the International Day of Peace on September 21, Pakistan takes pride in reaffirming its enduring commitment to global harmony and security. The Pakistan Army has long stood at the forefront of the United Nations peacekeeping missions, where its troops have earned international acclaim for professionalism, courage, and sacrifice.

Over the decades, Pakistani peacekeepers have operated in some of the most fragile conflict zones, providing security, extending humanitarian assistance, and restoring hope to communities devastated by war. Their service has not only protected countless innocent lives but also reinforced the credibility and effectiveness of the United Nations’ peacekeeping mandate.

To date, more than 235,000 Pakistani soldiers have participated in 48 UN peacekeeping missions across 29 countries, making Pakistan one of the largest and most reliable contributors in the world. The blue helmets of the Pakistan Army symbolize not only discipline and resilience, but also Pakistan’s deep-rooted commitment to the principles of peace, justice, and collective security.

This year’s International Day of Peace once again underlines the global resolve to end human suffering and conflict, a cause Pakistan has consistently championed. As a responsible UN member, Pakistan has ensured full support and access for peacekeepers and observers, strengthening international confidence in its role as a dependable partner for peace.

In recognition of this proud legacy, the Pakistan Army has reiterated that it will continue to stand by the global community in advancing the cause of peace.

“Pakistan is honored to be among the leading nations contributing to UN peacekeeping,” the statement read. “Our troops have not only upheld the sanctity of peace but have also laid down their lives in its pursuit. This noble tradition will continue with the same spirit of sacrifice, professionalism, and unwavering resolve.”
