Security Forces Foil Khawarij Escape Attempt In Bajaur

On August 19, 2025, security forces successfully thwarted an attempt by Khawarij to flee into Afghanistan, demonstrating continued vigilance and operational readiness in the region. Acting on precise intelligence, troops observed the movement of four to five Khawarij attempting to cross the border. The forces engaged them at a distance of 300 to 400 meters, preventing their escape. A fierce exchange of fire lasting 10 to 15 minutes resulted in the deaths of two Khawarij, whose bodies were recovered, while two others were injured.

Officials said the operation underscores the shrinking space for Khawarij in Bajaur. Previously, these cowardly extremists used civilian homes and local settlements as shields to evade security forces. Continuous and targeted operations by the Army and law enforcement agencies have now denied them both refuge and local support.

The forces reiterated their commitment to completely eliminate the threat of Khawarij from Bajaur and across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Continuous intelligence-based operations and collaboration with local communities have been pivotal in restricting the militants’ movements and dismantling their networks. Officials warned that the determined efforts of security agencies, combined with the vigilance of residents, will ensure that the province is fully cleared of these extremist elements.
