CTD Sub-Inspector Martyred in Targeted Attack in Pishin

Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officer was martyred in Pishin on Thursday when unidentified assailants opened fire at Bacha Khan Chowk, underscoring the persistent security challenges in Balochistan. According to police, Sub-Inspector Inayatullah was ambushed by armed men riding a motorcycle, who shot him at close range before fleeing the scene. The martyred officer’s body was shifted to Quetta for postmortem examination.

Law enforcement agencies swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators. Forensic teams collected evidence from the crime scene, while investigators said initial inquiries were underway to determine the motive and identify the network behind the attack. Security officials confirmed that raids had been initiated at suspected hideouts, adding that efforts were being intensified to bring the culprits to justice.

The targeted killing comes amid a surge in attacks against security forces and counterterrorism officials in Balochistan in recent months. Police and CTD personnel have frequently been targeted by militant groups in reprisal attacks, particularly in Quetta, Pishin, and other adjoining districts.

Authorities said the incident highlights the risks faced by counterterrorism officers engaged in frontline operations against militant networks. The government and security forces have repeatedly maintained that such acts of violence will not deter efforts to eliminate terrorism from the province.
