Security Forces Neutralise Several Khawarij in Bajaur Operation

Security forces carried out a targeted operation in Bajaur district, killing several Khawarij who had taken refuge inside a mosque in the Charmang area, security sources confirmed on Thursday.

According to details, the Khawarij had occupied the mosque and were using it as a cover to conduct subversive activities in the region. Acting on intelligence reports, security forces swiftly moved in and engaged the group, eliminating multiple operatives in a precise action.

Officials stated that the use of sacred places for violent activities by the Khawarij was a clear attempt to exploit religious sanctity for their nefarious designs. “The timely action not only neutralised a dangerous cell but also prevented possible attacks against innocent civilians,” a security source said.

The operation is part of a broader campaign to deny the Khawarij operational space in Bajaur, a district that has faced repeated infiltration attempts due to its sensitive location along the Afghan border. Security forces have intensified efforts in recent months to dismantle networks and restore peace in the region.

Authorities said further details will be shared once the clearance process in the area is fully completed. Meanwhile, a high security alert has been declared across Bajaur to ensure stability and prevent any retaliatory moves by the Khawarij.
