The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) on Thursday claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy in Bajaur district. The incident occurred on Wednesday when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off near a military vehicle at Inayat Kala Bypass in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. At least six soldiers, including a major-ranked officer, were wounded in the explosion, which was followed by gunfire, causing widespread panic in the area.
In its statement, ISKP said a tricycle laden with explosives had been parked along the roadside to target the convoy. The claim could not be independently verified. Soon after the blast, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, while the injured were shifted to a nearby military health facility. Locals said the explosion created fear among residents, with nearby markets briefly closing down.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the condition of the injured personnel or the outcome of the search operation.
