Pakistan Navy Launches Third Hangor-Class Submarine in China

The Pakistan Navy has launched its third Hangor-class submarine, PNS Mangro, at a ceremony in Wuhan, China. Built by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group, the submarine is part of an eight-vessel deal signed with China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company (CSOC).

Under the agreement, four submarines are being built in China and four in Pakistan under a transfer-of-technology arrangement with Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works. The Hangor-class vessels are equipped with advanced weapons and sensors, aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s maritime security and maintaining regional stability.

Vice Admiral Abdul Samad, who attended the launch as chief guest, said the project reflects deepening Pakistan–China defence cooperation and will significantly enhance the Navy’s operational capabilities. Senior officials from both countries participated in the event.
