Field Marshal Asim Munir Felicitates PLA on 98th Anniversary at GHQ Ceremony

Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, extended heartfelt congratulations to China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on its 98th founding anniversary during a solemn and dignified ceremony held at the General Headquarters (GHQ).

Organised by the Pakistan Army, the event marked a significant reaffirmation of the historic and ironclad defence partnership between Pakistan and China. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China attended the ceremony as chief guest, accompanied by Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong and senior officials of the Chinese Embassy. Officers from Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force were also in attendance.

Field Marshal Asim Munir warmly welcomed the Chinese guests and praised the PLA’s unwavering contributions to China’s national defence, security, and development. He lauded the PLA as a symbol of discipline, resilience, and professionalism, commending its role in ensuring regional peace and strategic stability.

In his address, the Army Chief emphasised the enduring significance of the Pakistan-China strategic relationship, declaring it “a cornerstone of regional security and mutual progress.” He noted that the military-to-military ties between the two nations reflect a deep-rooted partnership based on shared values, mutual trust, and a joint commitment to peace and development.

“The Pakistan-China defence collaboration stands as a model of strategic trust and long-term cooperation in a rapidly evolving global security environment,” said Field Marshal Munir, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to further deepen bilateral military and strategic ties.

The ceremony concluded with expressions of mutual goodwill and a shared commitment to strengthening the all-weather strategic partnership that has long defined Pakistan-China relations.
