In a major success against violent extremism, police in Karak district on neutralised a most-wanted Khawarij commander affiliated with a proscribed outfit during a high-stakes intelligence-based operation in the jurisdiction of Shah Saleem Police Station, officials confirmed.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Karak, the slain militant, Fidaullah, was a senior figure in the Khawarij network and had been long sought by state institutions for his direct involvement in acts of sabotage, targeted violence, and threats to national security. “The elimination of this hardened enemy of the state marks a decisive blow to the operational capability of the Khawarij in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the DPO stated.
The operation was launched after credible intelligence pinpointed the presence of multiple Khawarij operatives, including the notorious commander Sanaullah Jalali and affiliates of the Mullah Nazir Group, in the area. Acting on this intelligence, police teams swiftly moved in, triggering a fierce exchange of fire that led to the death of Fidaullah.
Senior police officer Shahbaz Elahi confirmed that the slain commander had been a central figure in orchestrating anti-state plots and maintaining operational linkages with banned extremist factions. “Fidaullah was no ordinary militant he was a key node in the Khawarij structure operating in this region. His death sends a clear message to all who seek to challenge the authority of the state,” Elahi said.
The DPO further reiterated the police force’s unwavering resolve to root out every trace of Khawarij influence from the region. “We will not allow a single enemy of peace to remain. The writ of the state will be enforced without compromise, and our operations will continue until every last Khawarij element is brought to justice,” he declared.
Security forces have cordoned off the entire area and launched comprehensive search operations to apprehend remaining Khawarij members believed to be present in nearby hideouts.
