In a significant counter-terrorism success, Pakistani security forces have killed nine khawarij and captured eight others affiliated with the Indian-backed terrorist group, Fitna al-Khawarij, during a multi-day joint operation in the Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the intelligence-based operation was carried out from July 16 to 20, 2025. It involved the coordinated efforts of the Pakistan Army, Police, Levies, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and the local administration.
The action followed credible intelligence reports indicating the presence of Khawarij in the area, who were reportedly operating with support from Indian intelligence agencies. The four-day operation led to intense engagements as security forces skilfully surrounded and neutralized the terrorists’ strongholds.
“nine Indian sponsored khwarij were sent to hell, while eight khwarij were apprehended,” the ISPR confirmed, adding that two of the group’s hideouts were destroyed. A substantial cache of weapons, explosives, and ammunition was also recovered during the raids.
Local residents praised the operation and expressed strong support for the state’s anti-terrorism efforts. A sanitization operation remains underway to ensure the complete clearance of the area from any remaining threats.
The ISPR reiterated the nation’s resolve, stating, “Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies, with the full backing of the people, remain determined to eliminate all forms of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country.”
