Balochistan has witnessed an alarming surge in violence, with 501 acts of terrorism recorded in the first half of 2025 alone, leaving 257 people dead and 492 injured, according to a hard-hitting report released by the provincial Home and Tribal Affairs Department. The six-month report paints a stark picture of deteriorating security across the province. Non-local settlers were ruthlessly targeted in 14 separate attacks, resulting in 52 deaths a 100 percent increase in settler assassinations compared to previous periods.
The province also endured 81 bomb-related incidents, including IEDs, grenades, and landmine explosions, which claimed 26 lives and wounded 112 others. In two devastating attacks on trains, 29 individuals lost their lives, while 39 attacks on ordinary civilians killed 11 and injured 29.
From January 1 to June 30, 2025, the overall number of terrorist incidents surged by 45 percent an alarming spike that underscores the growing boldness and operational capacity of anti-state elements. The report further revealed that a frontline polio worker was martyred in a targeted assault, and nine attacks on mobile phone towers injured two people, highlighting the Khawarij’s continued assault on critical infrastructure and public health efforts.
The Balochistan Home Department has raised serious concerns over the intensifying wave of militancy, particularly the systematic targeting of settlers and civilians, urging immediate and decisive action by law enforcement and security agencies to dismantle the terror infrastructure before it spirals further out of control.
