Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited the National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad on Monday, where he addressed the graduating officers of the National Security and War Course comprising participants from all services. In a hard-hitting speech, the Army Chief highlighted the evolving nature of warfare and stressed the critical role of mental preparedness, operational clarity, and institutional professionalism in confronting contemporary security challenges. He praised NDU’s role in fostering civil-military synergy and producing leadership equipped to respond to hybrid, conventional, and sub-conventional threats.
Referring to recent developments in the region, Field Marshal Asim Munir said India’s failure to achieve its military objectives during Operation Sindoor, and its attempt to rationalize that failure through convoluted narratives, exposed its lack of operational readiness and strategic foresight. He categorically rejected insinuations about foreign involvement in Pakistan’s successful Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, calling them “irresponsible and factually incorrect.”
He said such claims reflect a persistent refusal to acknowledge Pakistan’s indigenous capabilities and institutional strength built over decades. “Dragging other states into a strictly bilateral conflict is a feeble attempt at camp politics and a desperate move to maintain India’s relevance as a so-called net security provider in a region increasingly disillusioned with its hegemonic and extremist Hindutva ideology,” he remarked.
The COAS stated that, unlike India’s self-serving alignments, Pakistan has built enduring partnerships grounded in principled diplomacy, mutual respect, and peace. He reiterated that any misadventure or violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with a swift, resolute, and “deeply hurting and more than reciprocal response,” warning that the consequences of escalation would rest solely with the “strategically blind, arrogant aggressor.”
“Wars are not won through media rhetoric, imported hardware, or political sloganeering, but through faith, professional competence, institutional strength, and national resolve,” he asserted.
Field Marshal Munir concluded by expressing complete confidence in the professionalism and preparedness of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and urged the graduating officers to uphold the highest values of integrity, selfless service, and dedication to the nation.
On arrival, the COAS was warmly received by the President of NDU.
