Lieutenant General Wiseman Simo Mbambo, Chief of the South African Air Force, met with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), at the Joint Staff Headquarters on Thursday. The meeting marked a significant step forward in bolstering strategic military cooperation between Pakistan and South Africa amid evolving regional and global security challenges. The two military leaders held wide-ranging discussions encompassing shared strategic interests, enhanced military-to-military cooperation, and regional security imperatives. Emphasis was placed on exploring new avenues for collaboration, including joint training programs, defence production, intelligence sharing, and capacity-building initiatives. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the scope and depth of bilateral engagements.
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza presented Pakistan’s comprehensive perspective on the fast-evolving regional security landscape, underscoring Islamabad’s pivotal role in promoting peace and stability across South Asia and beyond. He highlighted the unmatched sacrifices rendered by Pakistan’s Armed Forces in the face of terrorism and reaffirmed the country’s resolve to counter emerging hybrid threats.
Lieutenant General Mbambo lauded the exceptional professionalism and operational readiness of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and paid rich tribute to their historic sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. He expressed keen interest in forging a robust and enduring defence partnership with Pakistan, rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and strategic alignment.
Earlier, upon arrival at the Joint Staff Headquarters, the South African Air Force Chief was presented a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent, reflecting the esteem with which Pakistan holds its defence partners.
The visit of Lieutenant General Mbambo signals a growing convergence between Pakistan and South Africa on key defence and security matters, and reflects a shared desire to build a future-oriented, resilient, and mutually beneficial strategic partnership in an increasingly complex global security environment.
