At least eight khawarij were eliminated and over a dozen others injured during a successful intelligence-based operation conducted in the Gulshankot Spalga area of Miranshah, North Waziristan.
The operation was launched following credible multi-agency intelligence regarding the presence of 70 to 80 khawarij, including key figures from the Sufyan Group and several Afghan nationals, who were using the area as a hideout. Acting swiftly, security forces encircled the location and engaged the terrorists in a precise and decisive action.
Informed sources revealed that five dead bodies were later transported from the Khyber Mosque in Spalga to Tappi village, while several injured khawarij shifted to the Burkhani Mosque in Tappi for refuge. Among the injured are prominent individuals including Umar Anas, Mansoor, Musa, Zulfiqar, Badr-ud-Din, Shamim-ud-Din, Umar, and Yasir. Zulfiqar is believed to have been involved in the martyrdom of Lieutenant Hassan, while Shamim-ud-Din, a resident of Tappi, is the brother of a senior khariji commander known as Waqar alias Hussami. One of the killed Khawarij has been identified as Umair.
Officials say the operation marks a significant blow to the khawarij network operating in the region, adding that follow-up actions are underway to track and neutralise remaining elements. The security forces reaffirmed their resolve to eliminate the threat of khawarij and ensure lasting peace in the tribal districts.
