Police Foil Khawarij Ambush in D.I Khan, One Assailant Reported Killed in Gun Battle

Police  bravely foiled an ambush by Khawarij elements in the jurisdiction of Hathala Police Station near the Malang area, engaging in an intense exchange of fire with the attackers. Initial reports confirm that two Khawarij operatives were injured, while one is believed to have been killed during the encounter. The cowardly attack targeted police personnel who were returning home after completing duty in the Tikwara area. However, the assailants’ plan was swiftly countered as the police retaliated with timely and effective gunfire, preventing what could have been a deadly strike.

“Our personnel responded with remarkable courage, managing to injure two Khawarij in the firefight. One of them is feared to have been killed,” a police spokesperson said.

The exchange of fire prompted a rapid response, with SP Saddar and additional contingents rushing toward the area to reinforce the frontline officers. The situation remains under close monitoring by senior officials.

District Police Officer Dera Ismail Khan, Sajad Ahmad Shahzadah, also proceeded to the site immediately upon receiving reports of the incident to oversee the response and guide further action.

A search and clearance operation has been launched in the surrounding vicinity to ensure the complete elimination of any remaining threat posed by the Khawarij. Police have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to protecting citizens and upholding peace across the district.
