Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited the General Staff Headquarters in Tehran as part of his official tour to the Islamic Republic of Iran, where he held a significant meeting with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces. The two sides discussed the evolving regional security situation and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
During the meeting, both military leaders deliberated on enhancing military-to-military engagement, improving border security coordination, and transforming border regions into zones of trade and economic collaboration. The discussions underscored a shared vision of promoting regional stability, prosperity, and deeper bilateral trust.
Upon arrival at the General Staff Headquarters, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was warmly received and presented with a ceremonial guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Iranian Armed Forces, reflecting the deep respect between the two nations’ militaries.
Earlier, the COAS, accompanied by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, also held meetings with His Eminence Ayatollah Syed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran, and H.E. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, highlighting the strategic significance of the visit.
The Army Chief is currently accompanying the Prime Minister’s delegation on a three-nation official tour of Türkiye, Iran, and Azerbaijan aimed at reinforcing Pakistan’s ties with key regional partners.
